St. Vincent Charity hospital was established in 1865 in Cleveland situated in the core of the downtown. It is a non-profit organization and is known for its first ever open heart surgery, first free out-patient wing, first school of nursing and the first treatment procedure for alcoholics.
This hospital consisted of 480 beds for providing extensive health care to all the people. It offers many services both for the inpatients and the outpatients and is famous for the heart surgeries that it performs. The hospital even has a level II Trauma Center. It is co-owned by St. Augustine and University Hospitals Health System.
St. Luke’s Medical Center is the sister concern of this charity hospital and serves 24 X 7. It is located at 15 minutes far from St. Vincent. This concern has an emergency service, out-patient health center, physician offices, and laboratory and radiology sections.
It has been 135 years since the hospital started its services to the Cleveland community and underwent renovation in 2001 to start an art auditorium where you can watch the surgeries live through remote cameras. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations awarded 91 points out of 100 to identify its excellent health care. This rating is actually extremely higher than the average standard in the country.
